Individual and Group-wise Classroom Seating Experience

Seating location in the classroom can affect student engagement, attention and academic performance by providing better visibility, improved movement, participation discussions. Existing studies typically explore how traditional seating arrangements (e.g. grouped tables or rows) influence students' perceived without considering group behaviours under more flexible arrangements. Furthermore, survey-based measures of engagement are prone to subjectivity various response bias. Therefore, this research, we investigate individual group-wise experiences using wearable physiological sensors. We conducted a field study at high school collected survey data from 23 students 10 courses over four weeks. aim answer following research questions: 1. How does proximity between relate their learning engagement? 2. do physiologically-based (i.e. arousal synchrony)? Experiment results indicate that experience is associated with measured electrodermal activity. also find who sit close together likely have similar tend synchrony. This opens up opportunities implications has great potential maximize suggesting intelligent choices future.
